Malga Ciapela – Marmolada

Malga Ciapela is a little town at the foot of Marmolada (3342 m), the highest mountain in Dolomites. From the town you can reach directly the peak taking one of the three cable car stumps up to 3269 meters, at Punta Rocca. Here, you will find panoramic slopes, and winter skiing on a glacier undoubtedly gives strong emotions. From there, the historical slope La Bellunese takes to the town after 12 Km of emotions. Someone described it as the most beautiful in the whole Alpes. Who does not want to challenge the glacier or only wants a little change can go over the 2300 metres of Padon Pace and go down towards Arabba. From there, you can access the Sellaronda trail. Until some years ago, on Marmolada it was possible to ski in summer, too. Now the circumstances do not allow that, but the high quote and the snow quality make this resort ideal for alpine skiing in the beginning as well as in the end of skiing season. You can enjoy many off-piste trails on the open glacier, and you can afford runs of 1600 m of drop. The ski resort is suitable for beginners and experts accompanied by a mountain guide and it is fantastic for off-piste snowboard lovers. Cross-country skiing lovers will find a 7.5 Km long run, and there are many snowshoes walks through the woods of Pettorina Valley.
