Roccaraso is without any doubt the biggest skiing resort in central Italy, thanks to its 130 Km of slopes connecting Rivosondoli, Pescocostanzo and Pescasseroli with 32 ski lifts, which made it comparable to the big northern skiing areas. Roccaraso Aremogna has 16 ski lifts (1 gondola lift, 8 chairlifts, 5 platter lifts and 2 magic carpets) serving 3 blacks, 14 reds and 16 blues; in Pizzalto area, there are 5 ski lifts (1 six-seat chairlift, 3 platter lifts, 1 magic carpet) for 5 blacks, 5 reds and 5 blues. The whole Roccaraso ski area offers 49 alpine skiing slopes in 78 Km. Between the villages and Toppe del Tesoro peak there are one thousand meters of drop, covered by the six-seat gondola lift Toppe del Tesoro (1668-2142). Almost all the slopes are served by a snowmaking system and the variety of slopes allows anyone to enjoy the wideness of this ski area. Here, several international races took place: in 2005, Roccaraso hosted the men and women European Cup finals and in 2012 it hosted Juniores World Championships. Besides two snow parks on Vallefura and Pescocostanzo slopes, you can try snowkiting (329 7381937329 7381937) and heliski (+39 333 8102514 or +39 333 8102514). In Pizzalto, baby camp with inflatables, stationary bicycle on the snow, and video Ski, served by two magic carpets. For cross-country skiing, on Piano dell’Aremogna there are two prepared rings for 8 Km starting from Roccaraso centre and 3 free rings for 24 Km (Baita lago di Castello, Pizzalto-boschetto, Piano Aremogna). After skiing, if you want enjoy yourself on the ice, there is the Palaghiaccio with an Olympic ice rink (0864 63228). Alto Sangro ski pass consortium gathers all the ski lifts managers of Comunità Montana dell’Alto Sango e dell’Altopiano delle Cinque Miglia, that’s why Roccaraso, Pescocostanzo, Pescasseroli and Rivisondolo have a single ski pass.
