Pontedilegno Tonale
In Lombardy, many ski resorts lack in something. Some of them have old ski lifts, other have brand new lifts but few slopes for the number of skiers they host, or maybe there are very good lifts and many slopes, but they are not connected to each other. In Lombardy, many ski resorts lack in something. Some of them have old ski lifts, other have brand new lifts but few slopes for the number of skiers they host, or maybe there are very good lifts and many slopes, but they are not connected to each other. We think that Pontedilegno - Tonale had the first and third faults. In Val Camonica, they were pretty aware of those problems, and invested a lot to overcome them. In Tonale Pass, modern ski lifts served a little number of runs, so the Paradiso gondola lift starting station was moved down, to make it accessible from the other runs in the Pace. Then, in December 2005, four new chairlifts opened, in order to connect Temù with Ponte di Legno. Last but not least, they built a new gondola lift, taking from Ponte di Legno to Tonale Pass in only 15 minutes.
This way, Pontedilegno - Tonale begun the biggest ski resort in Lombardy for kilometres of slopes, and one of the top in Italy, with its more than 100Km of slopes, 64 of which are only for alpine skiing, and 31 ski lifts between Stelvio and Adamello Natural Parks. Adamello Ski has a wide offer. You can enjoy summer skiing on Presena glacier, at 3000m, on Presanella Massif. From the glacier, you can reach the off piste trails Mandrone, Maroccaro, Cima Venezia and Pisgana. For ski mountaineering, every year, in Tonale Pass, the Lunarally race takes place in the moonlight. Adamello Ski Raid is a biennial event, on an extreme route going from East to West in Adamello Massif, for a total amount of 42Km and a drop of 3400m.
For cross-country skiers, the Fondo di Vermiglio Centre (in the last village in Val di Sole, going up to Tonale Pass), offers 20Km of trails on 7 routes in the two Natural Parks, in Volpaia – Stavel – Velon area. The Velon ring is connected with other trails for as much as 22Km. Here you can use the SuperNordicSkipass, the single ski pass to access all the main cross-country centres in Trentino and Italy.
Pontedilegno - Tonale includes the ski areas in Ponte di Legno, Passo del Tonale, Temù, and Ghiacciaio Presena.
