Piani di Bobbio – Valtorta is a ski area between Lecco and Bergamo, pretty close to Milan. Thanks to the new Lecco-Ballabio motorway, in less than an hour you can switch between your office in Milan and the snows in the “Piani” [Plains] (Piani di Bobbio, Piani d’Erna, Piani d’Artavaggio. A gondola lift starts from Barzio and arrives to Bobbio, at 1700 meters. This resort offers 35 kilometres of ski slopes, and is particularly suitable for families, since the majority of its slopes are for beginners and learning skiers. Yet there are some runs for experts’ leisure: the black slopes that you can reach with the Chiavello chairlift in Valtorta, and the slopes going down the mount Orscellera. Four chairlifts, including the brand-new Valtorta chairlift (a four-seat detachable grip chairlift), and three platter lifts serve the slopes. We also find some considerable trails for cross-country skiing: the “Rododendro” trail, at 1700m of altitude, approved for national and international races, 5Km long, and the “Tre Signori” cross-country centre at the foot of Pizzo dei Tre Signori, near Ceresola, 5Km long. For alpine skiing lovers, we recommend the Valtorta – Piani di Bobbio route, starting from the arriving point of the cable car in Zuccone Campelli, at 2159 meters, long 1725m. Last but not least, this resort offers a snow park, too, the Monkey Park, covering a surface of 1500m2.
