Maranza – Gitschberg
The skiing area around the “Gitsch”, the name given by locals to the mountain standing there (it is called Gitschberg or Monte Guzzo), lies at an height between 1300 and 2500 m over Maranza. In the village, we find two ski lifts with their slopes, suitable for kids or beginners. The Nisselbahn gondola lift in 15 minutes takes to mount Gitschber, which skiing area includes 21 Km of alpine skiing slopes (9 Km blue, 10 Km red and 2 Km of difficult slopes, with the famous black slope Segerwiese). In Gitschberg, we find two gondola lifts, two chairlifts and four ski lifts; moreover, you can ski at night in Brunner ski lift area every Wednesday evening from 8 p.m. Those ski lifts serves also the Easy Fun Park al Gitschberg snow park, which offers four slides, two jumps, and a snowkiting area. The “Zwergele Winterwelt” in Maranza offers three magic carpets, a tubing run, several slides, a swing, and many educational tools suitable for the little ones, to learn how to ski while playing. The cross-country skiing lovers will find the Valle d’Altafossa trail, starting from the car park Valle d’Altafossa/Maranza, 8 Km long, at 1556 m; or the Fundres ring in Val di Fundres, 3 Km long; or even the trail on Alpe di Rodegno/Luson, 15 Km long, at 1725 m. If you want to enjoy your toboggan, there are thrilling slopes like the easy Rifugio Moser slope in Valle d’Altrafossa/Maranza, 5 Km long, or the slope near the tennis court in Maranza, 150 m long. Together with the neighbouring Valles-Jochtal, Gitschberg forms a single, big skiing area that offers about 45 Km of slopes, 20 ski lifts and 1100 m of drop.
In Eisacktal,besides Gitschberg-Jochtal, there are Plose-Bressanone, Monte Cavallo-Vipiteno, Racines-Giovo, Ladurns-Colle Isarco ski areas.
