Madesimo is a ski resort located near the Swiss border, in the northern part of Italy. The ski area, covering 50Km of slopes, includes Campodolcino, Motta and Val di Lei. In the last few years, we assisted a sort of revolution, and many new ski lifts were built to relaunch this ski resort: four covered detachable grip four-seat chairlifts, two six-seat chairlifts, one eight-place gondola lift, and the first underground funicular in Italy. Madesimo is a ski resort located near the Swiss border, in the northern part of Italy. The ski area, covering 50Km of slopes, includes Campodolcino, Motta and Val di Lei. In the last few years, we assisted a sort of revolution, and many new ski lifts were built to relaunch this ski resort: four covered detachable grip four-seat chairlifts, two six-seat chairlifts, one eight-place gondola lift, and the first underground funicular in Italy. We also find a cable car and several other chairlifts, and there are many ongoing projects for this area. You will find extraordinary slopes in Val di Lei, and the slopes going down from Colmenetta are magnificent, but for experts we recommend the Canalone slope, famous for its beauty and difficulty. If the day is not enough for you, Skiarea Valchiavenna offers the opportunity to ski at night on Saturdays and Wednesdays: the Larici gondola lift is open and you can dine at the arriving point of the lift, at Rifugio Larici. The gondola lift is open from 7 p.m to 10.30 p.m., and at 10.30 p.m. starts the last trip to the top. During full-moon nights, you can join excursions with snowshoes organised by mountain guides in the areas around the village of Madesimo, like the Andossi ridge, the enchanted plain of Montespluga, or Motta. Usually, the route is chosen considering the snow and the weather.
