Courmayeur
Courmayeur is among the most known ski resorts, being one of the first to become popular for winter tourism. This alpine skiing resort expands itself in front of Mont Blanc Massif, between Val Veny in the North West and Chécrouit plateau in the North East. Courmayeur is among the most known ski resorts, being one of the first to become popular for winter tourism. This alpine skiing resort expands itself in front of Mont Blanc Massif, between Val Veny in the North West and Chécrouit plateau in the North East. You can arrive to the ski area with three different cableways: from Courmayeur, from Dolonne and from Entrèves. Some years ago, those structures were advanced, but now they are rather dated. The three stumps of cableway climbing up to Mont Blanc don’t serve alpine skiing slopes, but only off piste routes, like Vallée Blanche downhill, which starts from Punta Helbronner and, in 20 Km through the Mer de Glace glacier in the heart of Mont Blanc Massif, arrives to the center of Chamonix. From Punta Helbronner you can take another off piste on Toula glacier on the Italian side. Another freeride route is the downhill of Arp Vieille, in the northern part of Chécrouit ski resort, which you can reach with the Chécouit cable car. 70% of this area is supported by snowmaking systems. At Dolonne you will find an amusement park that offers moving sidewalks for beginners and kids. Cross-country lovers will find some rings in Val Ferret. At Courmayeur you can try every winter sport: skiing in all its genres, walks with snowshoes, snow fun parks, ice climbing, snow golf, sleddog, heliski, ice skating, hockey, curling, and other classic indoor sports.
