Cogne
Cogne is a ski resort laying in front of the wonderful glaciers of Grivola and Gran Paradiso. In the past, this town was an important iron extraction center, but now – while this activity has ended – it devotes itself to tourism. Cross-country ski slopes are beautiful and renowned, and they cover 80 Km for 12 rings going from the center to the villages of Epinel, Lillaz and Valnontey. Among the many international games hosted by Cogne, we want to point out Marcia Gran Paradiso and several editions of Cross-country World Cup. Alpine skiing has not so much space here: this resort offers only four ski lifts for 9Km of slopes; among them, some advanced slopes arrive from the foot of Montseuc to the town. In the well-known field dedicated to Saint Ursus, you will find a snow park with moving sidewalks, snow-tubing facilities, inflatables, and a slope for kids and beginners. Punta Rossa della Grivola and Gran Serra are two of the favorite peeks for who practices ski mountaineering and has a good experience. Who only wants to relax will find a wide network of walkable routes, some of which require wearing snowshoes, twisting and turning in the heart of Gran Paradiso National Park. Besides ski, sportspeople can try ice climbing, choosing among 150 frozen natural waterfalls of different difficulty, in different places located in Valnontey, Valeille, Grauson valley and Dry Tooling in Moline hamlet; we recommend to go with a mountain guide (00165.74835 [email protected].)
